All gorilla trackers must be at the park by this time to attend the briefing which is an overview of what to expect during the gorilla trekking. A gorilla safari in Bwindi Forest offers you several gorilla groups to choose from. The Rangers will take into consideration your overall fitness. Gorilla tracking is challenging but you will find the experience awesome once you see the primates. It is always amazing to watch a family of mountain gorillas. You could spend hours just watching the little ones roll around and play. While with the gorillas, it’s important to listen to instructions from your guide. Never make sudden movements while with mountain gorillas. Time with the gorilla family will take about 1 hour after which you will go back to the starting point to meet with the driver to take you back to your hotel for lunch. The afternoon activity will be a visit to the Batwa pygmy cultural community. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the forest but were relocated by government because they could not live along with the gorillas. This enabled easy gorilla conservation. Expect to be entertained with traditional dances, songs and stories about their past life during your visit at the Batwa community. The Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth is not as rich as the Kasenyi plains or Mweya Peninsula in terms of game but it is characterized by the tree climbing lions. The lions spend most of their afternoons on top of fig and acacia trees. About 4 prides of tree climbing lions can be found in that area.
