White Rhino Experience
Overview
The Ziwa Rhino sanctuary is located in Nakasongola district in the north of Kampala along Kampala Gulu High way, approximately 180km by road the distance about half way of the journey to Murchison falls National Park. This Rhino sanctuary was started to protect the White Rhino populations found in Uganda, which were facing extinction due to massive wars in the 1970s, which caused serious killings and poaching of Rhinos. Apart from rhinos, the sanctuary is also home to a number of bird species, reptiles, and 40 mammal species including antelopes, crocodiles, hippos, monkeys among others. There is surely a lot to do and see in the sanctuary such as birding and Nature walks ,though Rhino tracking is the major activity.
