Day 02 Gorilla Tracking – Batwa cultural experience

At 7:00am, Briefing for gorilla trekking by a Ranger at the Bwindi National Park head offices begins. All gorilla trackers must be at the park by this time to attend the briefing which is an overview of what to expect during the gorilla trekking. A gorilla safari in Bwindi Forest offers you several gorilla groups to choose from. The Rangers will take into consideration your overall fitness. Gorilla tracking is challenging but you will find the experience awesome once you see the primates. It is always amazing to watch a family of mountain gorillas. You could spend hours just watching the little ones roll around and play. While with the gorillas, it’s important to listen to instructions from your guide and follow the park guidelines for example, you are advised not to make sudden movements while with mountain gorillas. Time with the gorilla family will take about 1 hour after which you will go back to the starting point to meet with the driver to take you back to your hotel for lunch. The afternoon activity will be a visit to the Batwa pygmy cultural community. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the forest but were relocated by government because they could not live along with the gorillas. This enabled easy gorilla conservation. Expect to be entertained with traditional dancers, songs and stories about their past life during your visit at the Batwa community. After the exciting experience with the Batwa community the driver will transfer you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Bwindi Ride for a woman community guest house budget traveler, Silver Back Safari lodge for mid-range lodges and Gorilla heights lodge for luxury

Day 03 Transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth-game drive

Approximately 216kms from Bwindi, about 3 hours’ drive.
Checkout out of the hotel, drive to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Visiting the Ishasha sector is very rewarding for it is made up of scenic landscape which is not found elsewhere in the park. Ishasha sector is very fascinating tourist destination majorly because of the tree climbing lions and other fascinating wildlife. At Ishasha sector the Guide will take you for your first game drive, this sector is less explored but is home to the largest group of tree climbing lions in the world. The sector has the largest population of the Uganda Kob. The main objective of the game drive is to find the tree climbing lions of Ishasha but with aim to catch sight of many of the mammals in the park. The lions love resting on the large fig trees which are common in the sector. The reasons why lions in Ishasha love climbing trees compared to other lions in other parts of the park, is to avoid bugs/insects in Ishasha that bite them while resting on the ground.
You will be driven back to your hotel for lunch and refreshment before going for an afternoon launch cruise at the Kazinga channel. The channel is characterized with one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in East Africa. The Kazinga Channel is where most of the park animals gather to drink and bath especially during the dry season. During the dry season, it is the most rewarding experience one can ever imagine.
